Today, we’ll talk about three crucial mistakes to avoid when buying a home.
-
You don’t work with a real estate agent.
A good real estate agent will show you the full inventory of houses for sale, so you can compare them all to each other. Plus, a good real estate agent should pull up comparisons of homes that have sold to help you make a better offer. -
You don’t read the fine print.
When buying a property, you need to sign lots of paperwork. There are time periods you need to stay within, such as those for inspections and contingencies. Work with an agent that has experience with these deadlines to avoid missing them! -
You don’t conduct research.
Houses sometimes sit in the market for years before they sell. A naive buyer, for instance, can offer the full listing price of a home that’s been sitting. That’s a problem since you wouldn’t need to offer full price on a home that’s been sitting for a long time. Work with a real estate agent, again, to pull up all the data about a listing that you couldn't find on your own
